Sepolia Beta Token Gate Testing Guide

DeFiHubSpace is currently running a live beta test of token-gated premium content on Ethereum Sepolia. This guide walks you through everything you need to participate — from wallet setup to unlocking gated sections — in a few straightforward steps.

What you'll need: ~15 minutes, a browser (desktop recommended), a Web3 wallet, and no real funds.

⚠️ Beta Note: This testing phase is optimized for browser extension wallets (e.g. MetaMask).
Mobile and WalletConnect options are supported, but may have inconsistent behavior depending on device and wallet.

Prerequisites

Recommended (Best Experience)

  • A desktop browser (Chrome, Firefox, Brave, or Edge)
  • A browser extension wallet (MetaMask or similar injected wallet)

This setup is strongly recommended for this beta to ensure a smooth and predictable experience.

Alternative (Supported, but Experimental)

  • Mobile wallets (MetaMask Mobile, Trust Wallet, Coinbase Wallet, etc.)
  • Desktop wallet apps
  • WalletConnect-compatible wallets

These options should work, but may behave differently depending on the wallet and device.
If you encounter issues, switch to a browser extension wallet before troubleshooting further.

No prior Sepolia experience is required.

Step 1: Add the Sepolia Network to MetaMask

If you already have MetaMask set up, you just need to add the Sepolia testnet.

  1. Open MetaMask and click the network selector at the top (it likely says Ethereum Mainnet).
  2. Click Add a networkAdd a network manually.
  3. Enter the following details:
FieldValue
Network NameEthereum Sepolia
RPC URLhttps://rpc.sepolia.org
Chain ID11155111
Currency SymbolETH
Block Explorerhttps://sepolia.etherscan.io
  1. Click Save and switch to the Sepolia network.

New to MetaMask? See the Setting Up MetaMask guide first, then return here.

Step 2: Get Free Sepolia Test ETH

You need a small amount of Sepolia ETH to cover gas fees for swaps and token verification.

Many public faucets now require a minimum Ethereum mainnet balance (often ~0.001 ETH) to prevent abuse. If you don't have mainnet ETH, use the Google Cloud faucet below.

Recommended Faucet (No Mainnet ETH Required)

  1. Copy your wallet address from your wallet.
  2. Visit the Google Cloud Web3 Faucet: https://cloud.google.com/application/web3/faucet/ethereum/sepolia
  3. Sign in with a Google account.
  4. Paste your wallet address and request Sepolia ETH.

Funds typically arrive within about a minute.

💡 Tip: Most wallets let you click or tap your account name to copy your wallet address instantly.

Alternative Faucets (May Require Mainnet ETH)

Paste your address and request test ETH.

You can confirm your balance on:
https://sepolia.etherscan.io

A small amount (0.1–0.5 ETH) is more than enough for testing.

💡 Good to know: Gas fees on Sepolia are negligible (usually <0.001 ETH) and use test tokens only.

Step 3: Acquire DUTIL on Sepolia

Token-gated content requires a minimum balance of 100 DUTIL in your connected Sepolia wallet.

Option A — Swap Sepolia ETH (Primary Method)

  1. Ensure your wallet is connected and set to Ethereum Sepolia.
  2. Go to: https://app.defihub.space/swaps
  3. Swap a small amount of Sepolia ETH for DUTIL.
  4. Confirm the transaction in your wallet.

Option B — Use USDC Testnet Faucet

You can also acquire testnet USDC and swap it for DUTIL.

  1. Visit the Circle faucet: https://faucet.circle.com
  2. Request USDC on Ethereum Sepolia.
  3. Once received, go to the swap interface.
  4. Swap USDC → DUTIL.

This is useful if ETH faucets are rate-limited.

After your swap:
  • Verify your DUTIL balance in your wallet
  • Import the token if it doesn’t appear automatically

Once you hold 100+ DUTIL, you're ready to proceed.

Step 4: Connect Your Wallet on DeFiHubSpace

  1. Visit any gated page on https://defihub.space
  2. Click Connect Wallet
  3. Choose your wallet:
  • MetaMask (recommended)
  • Coinbase Wallet
  • WalletConnect (for mobile users)
  1. Approve the connection request in your wallet

This is a read-only connection — no transaction is required.

Step 5: Verify and Unlock

Once connected:

  1. The system checks your DUTIL balance automatically
  2. If you hold 100+ DUTIL, content unlocks instantly
  3. If not, click Verify Again

Troubleshooting

Content still locked?

  • Ensure you're on Ethereum Sepolia
  • Confirm you hold at least 100 DUTIL
  • Try reconnecting your wallet

Using mobile or WalletConnect?

  • If verification fails, retry using a browser extension wallet
  • Some mobile wallet sessions may not refresh correctly during beta

DUTIL not visible in wallet?

  • Use Import Token and paste the contract from: https://sepolia.etherscan.io

No test ETH?

  • Return to Step 2 and try a different faucet
  • Ensure you're requesting Sepolia ETH, not mainnet
